Upon arrival at Marrakech airport, our friendly driver will greet you and transfer you to your hotel or riad. After settling in, enjoy your first taste of Morocco by exploring the vibrant Jemaa el-Fna square and the lively souks of the old medina. Take in the aromas, sounds, and colors of this dynamic city as you ease into your Moroccan adventure.

After breakfast, set out on an optional guided tour of Marrakech with a certified local guide. Discover the city’s rich heritage with visits to landmarks such as the Koutoubia Mosque, the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, and the Ali Ben Youssef Madrasa. Stroll through the vibrant souks and enjoy the serene Majorelle Gardens. Spend the night in a traditional riad in the heart of the medina.

Today, travel west to the Atlantic coast and the laid-back town of Essaouira. Along the way, pass through argan tree groves and visit women’s cooperatives producing argan oil. Once in Essaouira, explore its UNESCO-listed medina, ancient ramparts, scenic harbor, and endless beaches. Enjoy fresh seafood, coastal views, and the artistic vibe that has long drawn musicians and creatives. Overnight in a charming riad in Essaouira.

 

Continue along Morocco’s Atlantic coast, stopping in El Jadida, a former Portuguese stronghold now recognized by UNESCO. In Casablanca, marvel at the Hassan II Mosque, an architectural masterpiece by the sea, and visit Mohammed V Square. Then proceed to Rabat, Morocco’s capital, where you’ll explore the Kasbah of the Udayas, the Hassan Tower, the Mohammed V Mausoleum, and the Royal Palace grounds. Overnight stay in Rabat.

 

Journey north along scenic roads toward Tangier before ascending into the Rif Mountains to reach Chefchaouen, the iconic "Blue Pearl" of Morocco. Stroll through its maze-like streets, marvel at the shades of blue, and shop for local crafts like handwoven textiles, wool garments, and goat cheese. Relax in the peaceful central square or take a light hike in the surrounding hills. Overnight in a tranquil riad in Chefchaouen.

Depart Chefchaouen and head toward the Roman ruins of Volubilis. Explore this open-air museum filled with mosaics and remnants of ancient Roman life. Continue to the imperial city of Meknes to see the grand Bab Mansour gate and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. After lunch, arrive in Fes—Morocco’s spiritual and cultural capital—for an overnight stay in a traditional riad.

After breakfast, enjoy a full-day guided exploration of Fes. Visit the medieval Fes el-Bali medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the world’s oldest university, Al-Qarawiyyin. Navigate the narrow alleys lined with traditional workshops and souks, and see highlights like the Bou Inania Madrasa, the Nejjarine Fountain, the Royal Palace, and the Jewish Quarter (Mellah). Overnight in your riad in Fes.

Leave Fes and drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop in Ifrane, known as the "Switzerland of Morocco," and the cedar forests of Azrou, where you may spot Barbary macaques. Enjoy lunch in Zaida before continuing through the dramatic Ziz Valley to Erfoud and finally reaching the desert gateway of Merzouga. Settle into a hotel or riad and prepare for your desert adventure.

 

After breakfast, discover Merzouga and its surroundings. Visit the village of Khamlia to enjoy a performance of Gnawa music, and meet a nomadic family for tea and cultural exchange. In the afternoon, embark on a camel trek into the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Watch the sun set over the sands before arriving at your luxury desert camp. Enjoy a traditional dinner, live drumming, and stargazing in the peaceful Sahara night.

Awake early to catch the sunrise over the dunes, then return by camel to Merzouga for breakfast. Begin your journey toward the Todra Gorges, passing through the towns of Erfoud and Tinghir. Take time to walk along the gorge’s riverbed and admire the towering cliffs. Continue through the scenic Dades Valley, stopping for panoramic views, and stay overnight in a hotel within the gorge.

 

Depart Dades and travel through the Valley of Roses and Skoura Oasis. Stop at the Taourirt Kasbah and the famed Atlas Film Studios in Ouarzazate. Then visit the ancient ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and filming location for many Hollywood epics. After lunch, cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260m), arriving in Marrakech by evening.
